Main Avenue, Berwyn
The mural.
There's a wall on Main Avenue that used to be just the side of a building. It's now a mural about music, dancing and the life of this town — and for our family, it's a tribute to the man who spent his life helping Berwyn thrive.
Saturday 26 September we're closing Main Avenue and dedicating it properly — live music from 3, food and bars on both sides of the street, free, everyone welcome. The full running order.
How it started
A wall, and a long conversation.
For years, Stacy Ballard from the Berwyn business community, EADEH and I had talked about doing something special with the wall on Main Avenue. We knew it had the potential to become more than just the side of a building. We wanted it to be something that celebrated Berwyn and the community that has meant so much to our family.
My father was a big part of Berwyn. He wasn't only a building owner and a local businessman — he served as president of the business association for ten years and cared deeply about seeing this community thrive. Berwyn has always been a big part of our family's life, both personally and professionally.
After my father passed away, Stacy came to me with an idea. She thought the wall could become a way to honour him, our family, our business, and the community he loved.
That idea grew into the mural you see today.
What's on the wall
Music, dancing, and a room full of people.
The finished mural celebrates the energy, music, dancing, dining and sense of community that Midtown Social is all about. A couple mid‑step. A bass player in a hat. A pianist, singers, and colour running the whole length of the building.
But for our family it represents something deeper. It's a tribute to my father and to the years our family has spent being part of Berwyn.
What happened next
It took on a life of its own.
One of the best parts has been watching that happen. People stop to look at it. They take photos in front of it, share them, and tag us. What started as an idea between a few people who care about Berwyn has become a place where the community makes its own memories.
That's what makes it so special to us — a beautiful example of what happens when family, local businesses, art and community come together. We're proud that it's become a little piece of Berwyn people want to share.
If you take a photo, tag @midtownsocialpa. We love seeing them.
Saturday 26 September · 3 PM til late · free
We're closing the street for it.
Main Avenue shuts to traffic from 3 PM and the block between us and La Cabra Brewing becomes one long party — tables and umbrellas down the middle of the road, string lights overhead, bars and food on both sides.
Three stages running. Music on the street from three, a full band upstairs in the Hall from six to nine, and DJs taking over both floors at nine.
It's put on by Midtown Social, La Cabra Brewing and the Berwyn Devon Business Association, sponsored by EADEH. Art, music, community, local business. That's the whole idea, and it's the right way to hand the mural over to the town.
Outside — Main Avenue
Upstairs — Midtown Hall
Downstairs — first floor
More acts still being added. Three stages running — the street, the Hall upstairs and the first floor — so there's something on wherever you are. Check back closer to the date.
Bring the kids to the early part. Three o'clock is School of Rock outside and George's Music upstairs — young players on both stages, in daylight, hours before the DJs start. It's the most family-friendly hour of the day and worth turning up for.

Getting here that day
Main Avenue is closed, and so is access to the parking lots for anyone who isn't a resident or staff. Come by train — Berwyn station is directly across Lancaster Avenue — or park in one of the free lots a few minutes' walk away and come in on foot.
Bring the family. It's outdoors, it's free, and the early music is on well before anybody's bedtime.
Finding it
Turn onto Main Avenue.
The mural runs along the Main Avenue side of our building at the corner of Lancaster Avenue. Coming from Lancaster Avenue, take the first turn onto Main and it's immediately on your left — the same turn you take for our free parking lot behind the building.
It's outdoors, it's free, and it's there whenever you are. There are a few high tables along the wall if you'd rather sit with a drink and look at it properly.
Thank you
The people who made it happen.
The mural was painted by Andrey — @keydetail — through Main Line Mural Arts.
It happened because of Stacy Ballard, who had the idea and wouldn't let it go, along with EADEH and the Berwyn business community. And everybody who has stopped, looked up and taken a picture since.
This is the kind of thing we mean when we talk about being part of this town rather than just trading in it.
While you're here
The door is right around the corner.
The mural is on Main Avenue. The front door is on Lancaster, and we're open Tuesday to Saturday from 4 PM.
