Bar & bat mitzvahs · Berwyn, on the Main Line

Two floors.
So the kids can be kids.

The hardest part of a mitzvah reception is that you're throwing two parties at once. Here you get two rooms — the DJ and the dance floor upstairs, somewhere calmer for the adults downstairs, one team running both, and everybody still in the same building.

Up to 250 upstairs 500 across both floors Seven days a week

If you're planning a summer 2027 mitzvah, now is when the dates go.

Families book 12 to 18 months out, so June, July and August 2027 are being reserved right now. Saturday evenings go first, then Sundays.

Ask about a date — it costs nothing and it takes one phone call to find out whether yours is free. 610-220-2367.

Why two floors matters

You're running two parties, not one.

A hundred thirteen-year-olds want the music loud, the lights down and the dance floor full. Their grandparents want to sit somewhere they can hear each other, and their parents want a drink and a conversation.

In one room, somebody always loses. Here you take both floors: the DJ, the dance floor and the kids upstairs in Midtown Hall, the adults downstairs with the bar, the pool tables and somewhere to actually talk.

Same building, one contract, one team, and parents can walk up a flight of stairs to check on things whenever they like.

What's already here

The things a mitzvah needs.

The room

Midtown Hall, up to 250

8,000 sq ft, a proper stage, professional sound, truss lighting and an LED dance floor already installed — so your DJ isn't building a room from nothing.

The entertainment

Bring your own, or ask us

DJs, MCs, dancers, photo booths, entertainment companies — use whoever you want. We work with DJs every weekend and can suggest someone who knows the room if you'd rather.

The kids who won't dance

Pool, shuffleboard, ping pong

There are always a few. The games room downstairs means they're occupied and visible rather than sitting on their phones in a corridor.

The food

Two menus, one kitchen

Kids eat differently from adults, and both should eat well. Buffets, stations, plated, passed — from a catering menu of 142 items with vegetarian and vegan throughout.

The speeches

Microphones and a screen

Projection on both floors for the montage, microphones for the candle lighting and the toasts. Send the slideshow ahead and we'll test it properly.

The logistics

Free parking, train opposite

A free lot behind the building, more within three minutes, and Berwyn station directly across Lancaster Avenue for family travelling in from the city.

Summer is the opportunity

June, July and August are wide open.

Most venues are fighting over the same autumn and spring Saturdays. Summer is quieter here — which means you get the pick of the dates, the whole building if you want it, and our full attention rather than a weekend where we're running three events.

It also tends to suit families better than people expect: school's out, cousins can travel, nobody's missing a game or a test the next morning.

Straight answers

The things families ask.

Are you a kosher kitchen?

No, and we won't pretend otherwise. We don't hold kosher certification. We do handle a wide range of dietary requirements, with vegetarian and vegan options in every section of the menu, and some families bring in outside kosher catering for part of the meal.

Tell us what you need at the start and we'll be straight with you about what we can and can't do.

How far ahead should we book?

Twelve to eighteen months is normal. Saturday evenings go first, then Sundays. If you're looking at summer 2027, that decision is being made now — and it costs nothing to ask whether your date is free.

Can we have the whole building?

Yes. Both floors together hold up to 500, with nobody else in the building. That's the setup most families want — kids and DJ upstairs, adults downstairs, everyone under one roof.

Can we bring our own DJ and entertainment?

Absolutely. Most families already have someone. Midtown Hall has a stage, professional sound, truss lighting and an LED dance floor installed, so your DJ walks into a room that's ready rather than one they have to build.

What about a Sunday?

Sundays work well and we're closed to the public that day, so you get the entire building with nobody else in it. Daytime Sunday events are common for mitzvahs and often easier for out-of-town family.

Someone in the family can't manage stairs.

Then the adults' side goes on the ground floor. The first floor is fully wheelchair accessible and holds up to 200. Midtown Hall upstairs is stairs only, with no lift — so tell us at the start and we'll build the layout around it.

Can we come and see it?

Please do. Photos don't tell you what a room feels like with the lights on. Call 610-220-2367 and we'll show you both floors.

Come to us directly

You’ll get a faster answer, and a better one.

Plenty of sites will take your event enquiry and pass it on. We'd rather you just told us.

When you contact us here, you're talking to the family who runs the building — not a lead form that lands in five venues' inboxes at once. You get a real answer about your actual date, usually within a business day, from someone who knows whether the room works for what you're planning.

Call 610-220-2367 or send us the date. That's the fastest route to a real number.

Parking, properly answered

Yes — and enough of it for a full room.

The question every host asks, so here's the real answer rather than “free parking available.”

Our lot — 0 minutes

Behind the building, first right off Main Avenue. Free. Fills first.

Berwyn station — 2 minutes

140 spaces, both sides of the tracks. Free after 5 PM and all weekend — this is the one that absorbs a big group.

Trinity Church — 3 minutes

Top of the hill on Main Avenue, past the stop sign. Free.

Street & nearby

Lancaster Avenue and the side streets, plus additional parking behind the old Malvern Federal building. Please don't park in front of the houses on Main Avenue.

Free lots and street parking all within three minutes. Between them there's room for a full building — it's the reason we can host 500 people without a parking problem. For a big event we'll point your guests at the station lot, which has the space.

Valet is available for large private events. Ask when you book and we'll arrange it, with signage and staff directing your guests to the right lot. It doesn't run on ordinary nights.

And Berwyn station is directly across Lancaster Avenue on the Paoli/Thorndale line — genuinely useful at an event with an open bar. Full parking detail and directions.

Next step

Tell us the date you're circling.

Even if it's eighteen months out. We'll tell you straight away whether it's free, what the building would look like for your numbers, and roughly what it costs. No deposit to ask.
